Project Launch
Your task:
You will become a biologists who will research ecosystems.
The question that drives your study: Why do some plants & animals survive and thrive while others do not?
Study the roles of producers, consumers, and decomposers as well as the study the flow of energy in a food web/chain.
You may come across several different scenarios of a change within an ecosystem and you must respond to that change. Collaborate with other researchers and develop a model that illustrates the changes to various animals (kudzu, deer, and insects) when they become scarce, extinct, or over-abundant.
As you do your research, you will work to complete the following tasks in Science class:
1. In an ecosystem, many types of organisms interact with each other. What if one of them went missing? Create a wanted/missing poster or newscast for a producer, consumer, or decomposer. Rubic
2. Use your research to help you develop a model of the flow of energy in an ecosystem. You may do this in one of the following ways.
Tasks Scenarios Rubric
4. With your group of researchers, create a Smore Newsletter illustrating changes when a plant or animal becomes scarce, extinct, or over-abundant. Rubric
As you do your research, you will work to complete the following tasks in ELA class:
1. Flow of Energy Sequence Writing. Rubric
2. Video Review: Wolf Yellowstone Rubric
